Barcelona, Spain
Museu Textil i d'Indumentaria

May 17

This nice museum didn't have any signage but there was an English handout with some sketchy notes about what period the clothing was produced. They all look to be original - not reproductions.

Coptic 12th century shirt and cape.

Lace from the 17th century when Barcelona was a major lace-producing center.
Lyon, France became the focus of lace after 1650.

Brocaded weave made with a brocading shuttle (a small shuttle used for small areas) so the pattern doesn't add thickness to the cloth.

Soft leather embroidered gloves.

Detail of the embroidery on the left glove above.

Santa Susana brand sewing machine.
