Rosarium in Sangerhausen, Germany
August 1

The small town or Sangerhausen, near Halle, has about 300 acres devoted to the annual Rosarium. This park with permanent pavilions, fountains, stage, ponds, park benches, and trees has hundreds of plots devoted to roses. For only 6 you can spend the day, which we did.

Dozens of attendants were still keeping the place neat even though most of the roses were well past their prime. Indeed, most (including the Schwarz Rose) were just stems by this time. Still, there were lots of good blooms including a green rose ("Greensleeves") which you'll need to scroll down to the bottom to see.
