Jardins des Papillons, Hunawihr, France
September 15

Don Schlensker spends a few weeks every year in Arizona photographing birds. So when Bob saw a butterfly greenhouse he thought "That's gotta be easy." Actually it is, you can hold a camera just inches from a butterfly and wait for it to open its wings. No hiding behind bushes, no telephoto lenses.

This greenhouse gets cocoons shipped in from all over the world. They are mounted on sticks and left to emerge into the closed, 80% humidity, 80°F environment for school kids and photographers.

Don never shows us his pictures but here are butterflies, and we suspect a few moths.

There was a small section of orchids. So here's orchids. Interestingly, the butterflys ignore the orchids.

And one Passion Flower. Bob had these in the back yard while he was growing up.
