Shipton Quilters - Gloucestershire
Show and Tell

February 8

Show and Tell night at the local quilt society. This was election of officers night. The Show and Tell was included to entice members who might otherwise not to attend. Many of the projects shown here are being made for their quilt exhibition hosted every 3 years. The next one is in 2008. Here's some of the projects they are working on in the Cotswolds.

This quilt top is a combination of piecing and machine embroidery.

Members were encouraged to bring works in progress.

Made for a child in Brazil.

This was machine quilted using polar fleece instead of a batting and backing.

For a table not a tree skirt.

This quilt top is made from 5 fat quarters.

This is the quilt I've been working on. It comes from a class I took last month in Cheltenham. Each of the 8 Seminole patchwork strips are pieced and machine quilted individually before being attached (at the light-colored verticals). It's an easy way to make a large quilt on a normal sewing machine. The teacher has given me permission to bring the pattern and technique back to Indianapolis and I promise to teach a class on it later this year if there is an interest.
