"Back Road Brewery will produce nothing less than mind numbing award winning beer styles and put them in plain packaging. We will put them in crazy places so it is really hard for you to find. We probably won't advertise or even try to market effectively. So don't expect it. Are you buying beer or packaging or what?"

Representative Beer Menu

  ABV
Millennium Lager Lagered German-style beer with Noble hops. "This golden colored pilsner is clean and malty with a soft spicy hop flavor.  This makes a great session beer" 5.2%
Back Road Ale English Pale Ale with dry hopping for added aroma. 5.3%
Midwest IPA "Our IPA (Indiana Pale Ale) has enough hops to float a battleship. Let the resiny grapefruit-like hop flavor and aroma stimulate the senses and smack your buds. This beer style is extremely high in hop flavor and aroma, not to mention alcohol." Columbus hops for strength, Chinook hops for citrus. 7.3%
Belle Gunness Stout Irish Dry Stout. Not a Guinness clone. Named after a local mass murderer.

Belle was 6ft tall and over 200lb. It's thought she killed two husbands and all of her children, along with many suitors, more than 20 people in all - all to collect life insurance benefits.

A Norwegian who came to America in 1881, she had 3 insured houses burn down and an insured husband die by 1900. That's when she moved to LaPorte where almost immediately her carriage house burned. In 1902 her second husband, Peter Gunness died, netting her $3,000 from his life insurance policy.

Then it gets weird.

She advertised in Norway for a new husband and reportedly in the next 6 years 15 or more potential beaus came, moved in, took out a life insurance policy, and died.

A fire on April 28, 1908 was here ultimate downfall. In the ashes, police found four bodies. Digging in the back yard resulted in 12 more bodies and more pieces and parts.

Then it gets weird.

It seems Belle died in that fire. They found her body. They didn't find her head.

All in all, she had gotten as much as $250,000 in insurance payments.
