Schwarz Black Lager
chwarzbier (black beer) originated in medieval Germany, and though Upland isn't quite that old, we strive to bring you an authentic version of this historic beer. Our take on this ancient lager delivers hints of chocolate and coffee, courtesy of its dark malts, with a strong nose and a clean finish, striking the right balance of robust and crisp, with enough bitterness to accentuate but, not overpower, its many subtle flavors.
Don't be fooled by Schwarz's dark color! This beer may look ferocious, but it's as smooth as any golden lager. Schwarz is a great beer to enjoy when the days get cold. - Upland Brewing Company

Nut Hugger Brown Ale
Sometimes it’s good to be a bit nutty. Take, for instance, our Nut Hugger Brown Ale, a unique twist on a traditional recipe. The familiar, pleasant bitterness you would expect from a brown ale is present, tempered by a full, chewy caramel malt. However, things get interesting once you taste the hints of roasted biscuit and the chocolaty aroma, and to top it off, a touch of sweetness in the finish. Orignially, brown ale hails from England, where it first emerged in the 1600’s. The inclusion of American hops, however, lends Nut Hugger Brown Ale a satisfying bite.

Komodo Dragonfly Black IPA
Komodo Dragonfly Black IPA is a well-balanced, dark, bitter, and totally unique beer experience. We brewed this IPA with a base of fresh Pilsner Malts and darkened the color with pure Black Malts, creating a clean malt character that allows the liberal hop additions to shine through. Komodo is dry hopped and aged with a pinch of lavender to add to the overall aromatic experience.

Preservation Pilsner
As much as we at Upland Brewing Company care about the beer we brew, we're not completely single-minded. Preservation Pilsner represents our efforts to do our part to protect the land that we call home. Preservation Pilsner is brewed in the traditional Bohemian style, originally created in the town of Pilsen in 1842, and offers a crisp, light taste without sacrificing its signature all-malt, mellow flavor. We age our Pilsner for an entire month to ensure each glass is up to the standards of a classically brewed pilsner. To do our part in maintaining our environment, 10% of the profits from sales of our Preservation Pilsner go towards environmentally focused organizations in your area.

Bad Elmer’s Porter
The porter style takes its name from the dock workers and street laborers of London who favored the style in the days when it was first developed in the 18th century. In the spirit of these hardworking men, Bad Elmer personifies the hardy settlers of the rugged and heavily wooded land of southern Indiana, referred to as the "uplands. Bad Elmer's Porter is a medium-bodied beer, brewed with lot of roasted malt, giving it flavors of coffee, liquorice, and chocolate. This porter is characteristically dark but extremely smooth.

Maibock Bavarian Lager
For centuries, the beer-loving people of Bavaria have served their famous bock beers in the spring, and we are glad to bring this ancient tradition to your local beer hall. In Germany, many of the local bocks are brewed by Catholic monks, and while we at Upland may not have taken our vows, our Maibock delivers an authentic Bavarian taste--a full body with a complex, sweet malt character, balanced by a sturdy German hop profile that creates a crisp, dry finish.

Ard Ri Imperial Red Ale
Ard Ri (pronounced Ard like "hard" and Ri like "bee") means High King in Old World Gaelic and certainly lives up to its name. Like all Irish Red Ales, Ard Ri gets its distinct color from roasted barley used in the brewing process, but we've stepped up the malt and hops to make this imperial version of the style. Our signature St. Patrick's Day brew is slightly sweet with a complex malt character, balanced by a large hop addition to make it perfect for the big beer lovers and hop heads alike. Winter Warmer Barleywine
arleywine is a style of ale that originated in England and known for its high gravity, making it as strong as some wines. Our take on this classic style, Winter Warmer, undergoes a lengthy boil to achieve an almost black color, and features a heavy malt character, derived from a combination of British and American malts. From there, it is dry-hopped with Hallertauer hops for a powerful hop profile. Most distinctively, Upland's special yeast strain lends Winter Warmer a perfect blend of rich fruit flavors and aromas. Winner of a Silver Award in the 2008 World Beer Cup – “Old Ale” Category.

Rad Red Amber Ale
American Amber Ale combines the timelessness of European ales as well as the innovativeness of American breweries, making it a uniquely new world take on a classic style. Our Rad Red Amber Ale's extra hop kick takes this tradition of innovation a step further. Its solid hop presence, which comes from 100% American hops, is balanced by crunchy Caramel Malt, giving it a perfect amber color and chewy malt character. We kept the rest simple, using only Upland's own yeast ale blend and pure southern Indiana water for this drinkable yet refreshingly radical brew.

Dragonfly IPA
India Pale Ale originated when the British Empire was at its height. British soldiers and civil servants were stationed all over the globe (including India), and regular ales could not survive the long journey by sea to reach them. The British solved this terrible dilemma by adding excessive amounts of hops to their beer--using their preservative properties to increase the life of their beers. Our Dragonfly India Pale Ale is true to this tradition, featuring seven hop additions to create a powerful hop profile. A solid malt base, however, tempers the bitter American hops, giving Dragonfly a balance not often found in this style. This is a beer with enough bite for hop fans, but is smooth enough to be a session beer. The end product is a well-balanced, malty beer with the crisp taste of hops and an exceptionally floral nose.

Helios Pale Ale
This traditional American Pale Ale and winner of a 2010 World Beer Cup Bronze Award is a combination of the finest Midwestern malts and American Hops, creating a refreshingly crisp, citrusy, and slightly bitter taste. Named for the Greek sun god, Helios Pale Ale is a great choice for those who like a lot of personality and individuality in their beer.
Helios was given its name to reflect Upland's commitment to environmental sustainability, specifically the installation of ten solar tube panels on the roof of the brewery, which have dramatically reduced the amount of natural gas used to heat water in the brewhouse.

Wheat Ale
Upland Wheat Ale is a classic rendition of the Belgian Witbier (white beer) style. We brew it with organic coriander, chamomile, and orange peel to be light on the tongue and refreshingly tart. In the tradition of the Belgian Wit style, Upland Wheat Ale is unfiltered, allowing suspended yeast to create a cloudy, golden appearance and satisfying mouthfeel. Both full-bodied and easy-going, it's no wonder that Upland Wheat Ale is the flagship beer of our brewery and the best-selling beer brewed in Indiana.

Broo Doo
This beer is brewed during the hop harvest with a portion of unkilned or “wet” hops fresh off the vine. Apricot in color, Broo Doo’s nose has dominant orange, pine sap and floral notes, balanced by a glazed nut and toffee malt body. This celebration of the hop harvest has intense tropical fruit, citrus and spicy accents that showcase the complexity of the hops we all love. October release.

Oatmeal Stout
A Stout with an Oatmeal twist to give an unusual creaminess. A touch of sweetness combined with the coffee-like roasted barley flavors reminds many people of a coffee-and-cream. Our version adds a small, but definitely present, hop character making it a bit unusual (and tasty!) for beers of this style.

Plainfield Pale
An American Pale Ale. Our version of this American brewpub staple is a bit more bold than most (though not quite transformed into an IPA). Because of the additional hoppiness, we gave this a tad more malt character than usual...resulting in a well-balanced and very drinkable beer.

McClearen’s Scottish Ale
A traditional Scottish Ale, named in honor of the head brewer’s grandfather, Walter McClearen. This is a full-bodied beer with a low hop profile to emphasize the malty sweetness. This beer is an excellent choice to pair with a hearty meal such as Sheppard’s Pie (and is also an excellent choice to drink by itself!).

Izzy’s IPA
A traditional English India Pale Ale. The story of the origin of the IPA style (though challenged recently) is that in the late 18th century beer brewed in England destined for troops in India had to be strong in alcohol and highly hopped so that it would not spoil during the long, hot journey around the horn of Africa (hops are a natural anti-bacterial agent). During the early-to-mid 19th century the style caught on with the civilian population in England - no doubt spurred on by troops returning home - and has been popular ever since...for good reason!

Beatnik Blonde
An American Wheat beer. This is not your typical German or Belgian wheat beer! The American version is fermented with a neutral ale yeast for a clean taste without the strong flavor components associated with classical wheat yeasts. Light in color, with only just enough hops to balance the noticeable sweetness, this is an unusual and delicious brew!

Yoshi’s Nectar
This beer’s uniquely American style dates back to the late 1800’s in California, where brewers were using lager yeasts that had adapted to ale fermentation temperatures due to the lack of refrigeration. The resulting beer has a subtly complex flavor that is a hybrid of lager and ale flavors. Beers of this style used to be called Steam beers, but Anchor Brewing Co. trademarked the use of the word “steam”, and now this is called the California Common style. Our version of this classic is fuller-bodied with a pleasantly toasty malt flavor, and less aggressively hopped - making for a uniquely smooth and drinkable beer enjoyable to both novice and veteran craft beer enthusiasts.

Bent Rim Black Lager
Bent Rim Black is brewed with imported malts from Bamburg, Germany including pilsner malt, Munich malt, and a special "carafa malt" which delivers a rich black color and smooth roasted flavor without the bitter bite. Two additions of the spicy Tettnang hops gives Bent Rim its remarkable balance. The brew is finished with a long, cool fermentation by a traditional German strain of bottom fermenting lager yeast. Bent Rim is a medium bodied dark beer with the light, crisp aftertaste of a lager.
