Our flagship beer, and a true example of the style, the Railsplitter India Pale Ale (IPA) is a fresh golden brew with noticeable citrus and floral aromas balanced on a nice malty backbone with a dry finish.

"True to the style using all English grains and hops." Not exactly the Aberdeen recipe. Plenty of bitterness.

"Our IPA (Indiana Pale Ale) has enough hops to float a battleship. Let the resiny grapefruit-like hop flavor and aroma stimulate the senses and smack your buds. This beer style is extremely high in hop flavor and aroma, not to mention alcohol." Columbus hops for strength, Chinook hops for citrus.

Named for the effect it will have on you and for Lupilin which is the gland in the middle of the hop flower. It is yellow to deep yellow in color and provides essential oils and hard & soft resins. When these oils and resins are boiled in the beer they give you bitterness, hop flavor and aroma. Very high amount of hops. Estimated IBU's 95-100.

Komodo Dragonfly Black IPA is a well-balanced, dark, bitter, and totally unique beer experience. We brewed this IPA with a base of fresh Pilsner Malts and darkened the color with pure Black Malts, creating a clean malt character that allows the liberal hop additions to shine through. Komodo is dry hopped and aged with a pinch of lavender to add to the overall aromatic experience.

A traditional English India Pale Ale. The story of the origin of the IPA style (though challenged recently) is that in the late 18th century beer brewed in England destined for troops in India had to be strong in alcohol and highly hopped so that it would not spoil during the long, hot journey around the horn of Africa (hops are a natural anti-bacterial agent). During the early-to-mid 19th century the style caught on with the civilian population in England - no doubt spurred on by troops returning home - and has been popular ever since...for good reason!

India Pale Ale is a style of ale noted for its bitterness. Amber in color this ale offers the drinker a highly hopped, bold, bitter beer whose full flavor dances on the palate

Agreeable at 40 IBU of Chinook and Cascade hops.

A medium bodied IPA with an amber color orininating from highly-toasted caramel malt. American-grown hops provide a fruity, citrus-like charater. Enjoy the perfect balance between malty weetness and hoppy bitterness.

Imperial IPA. "Brewed with Simpson's Golden Promise malt; Northern Brewer, Fuggles and Cascades hops; and the house London yeast. Dry hopping with Fuggles and Cascades."

American-style IPA. "The beer with our highest level of hops it is brewed as a specialty beer a few times a year. Brewed with the intent of providing an ale with a very high level of hop flavor without excessive bitterness. We use four varieties of hops and three malts."

The Half Cycle is so named due to its marriage of single and double IPA characteristics. In baseball parlance, a single and double is half of “the cycle”, and this IPA is a heavy hitter. It’s a single IPA, hopped like a double, with an over-the-top hop character that’s a bit spicy, citrusy, piney, you make the call. Light in color, but not on flavor, this big boy is dry hopped with a pound of high alpha American hops in every barrel.

The beer that was created to make the ocean voyage to India when it was a British Colony lives on today in many interpretations - all hoppy, some a lot more than others. Great Crescent IPA is made in the classic British style and maintains some balance between the malt and the hops. There is a moderate hop aroma with a carmel malt presence. Hop flavor and bitterness come through very cleanly in the finish.

Centennial Hops

American India Pale Ale. Cascade hop aroma. Quite bitter and quite a kick.

Aggressive American IPA. Centennial and Cascade hops. "The resulting ale is a rich golden color and rather light in body, yet has a huge citrus aroma and is extremely bitter."

Copper colored. Bitterness comes from Fuggles, and Cascades.

A hophead’s dream beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale has an opening salvo of mango, peach and citrus hop aromas that sit atop a pronounced caramel malt backbone. Although Dreadnaught is a strong and intensely hoppy ale, its complex flavor is both smooth and memorable.

India Pale Ale originated when the British Empire was at its height. British soldiers and civil servants were stationed all over the globe (including India), and regular ales could not survive the long journey by sea to reach them. The British solved this terrible dilemma by adding excessive amounts of hops to their beer--using their preservative properties to increase the life of their beers. Our Dragonfly India Pale Ale is true to this tradition, featuring seven hop additions to create a powerful hop profile. A solid malt base, however, tempers the bitter American hops, giving Dragonfly a balance not often found in this style. This is a beer with enough bite for hop fans, but is smooth enough to be a session beer. The end product is a well-balanced, malty beer with the crisp taste of hops and an exceptionally floral nose.

We took our award-winning Dragonfly IPA and cranked up the malt and hops, but managed to hold onto the perfect balance our Dragonfly is known for. The result is a brew with a very powerful hop profile, matching malt character, and an enticing floral nose.

British IPA with a touch of American IPA around the edges. Fairly dark color.

An American style IPA, our Big Red combines the distinctive and assertive citrus flavor and aroma of Amarillo hops with a crisp, pleasantly bitter finish.

Our seasonal Belgian style Black IPA aged in a Buffalo Trace Distillery bourbon barrel. Barrel enhances the flavor with woody, earthy tones for this big beer.

This complex double India pale ale has an intense citrus and floral hop aroma balanced by a velvety malt body which has been augmented with lactose milk sugar. With this different take on an IPA we have brewed an ale that is both pleasing to drink and, once again, “not normal.” Cheers! June release.
