    • Yoshi’s Nectar
      This beer’s uniquely American style dates back to the late 1800’s in California, where brewers were using lager yeasts that had adapted to ale fermentation temperatures due to the lack of refrigeration. The resulting beer has a subtly complex flavor that is a hybrid of lager and ale flavors. Beers of this style used to be called Steam beers, but Anchor Brewing Co. trademarked the use of the word “steam”, and now this is called the California Common style. Our version of this classic is fuller-bodied with a pleasantly toasty malt flavor, and less aggressively hopped - making for a uniquely smooth and drinkable beer enjoyable to both novice and veteran craft beer enthusiasts.

    • Winter Warmer Barleywine
      arleywine is a style of ale that originated in England and known for its high gravity, making it as strong as some wines. Our take on this classic style, Winter Warmer, undergoes a lengthy boil to achieve an almost black color, and features a heavy malt character, derived from a combination of British and American malts. From there, it is dry-hopped with Hallertauer hops for a powerful hop profile. Most distinctively, Upland's special yeast strain lends Winter Warmer a perfect blend of rich fruit flavors and aromas. Winner of a Silver Award in the 2008 World Beer Cup – “Old Ale” Category.

      Upland Wheat Ale is a classic rendition of the Belgian Witbier (white beer) style. We brew it with organic coriander, chamomile, and orange peel to be light on the tongue and refreshingly tart. In the tradition of the Belgian Wit style, Upland Wheat Ale is unfiltered, allowing suspended yeast to create a cloudy, golden appearance and satisfying mouthfeel.       chwarzbier (black beer) originated in medieval Germany, and though Upland isn't quite that old, we strive to bring you an authentic version of this historic beer. Our take on this ancient lager delivers hints of chocolate and coffee, courtesy of its dark malts, with a strong nose and a clean finish, striking the right balance of robust and crisp, with enough bitterness to accentuate but, not overpower, its many subtle flavors.
      Don't be fooled by Schwarz's dark color! This beer may look ferocious, but it's as smooth as any golden lager. Schwarz is a great beer to enjoy when the days get cold.

      American Amber Ale combines the timelessness of European ales as well as the innovativeness of American breweries, making it a uniquely new world take on a classic style. Our Rad Red Amber Ale's extra hop kick takes this tradition of innovation a step further. Its solid hop presence, which comes from 100% American hops, is balanced by crunchy Caramel Malt, giving it a perfect amber color and chewy malt character. We kept the rest simple, using only Upland's own yeast ale blend and pure southern Indiana water for this drinkable yet refreshingly radical brew.

      American-style Pale Ale. "A well-defined hop flavor and aroma distinguish this classic beer. To create our Quarrymen Pale Ale, we start with London ale yeast. Its slightly mineral character is countered by a larger proportion of hops than some popular American-style pale ales utilize. Pitching rate is also a factor in the final hop flavor and aroma. We use Schrier pale malt and crystal malt; and the hops are all Cascade with Nugget used for bittering. As ever, we do not filter the beer. The Quarrymen Pale Ale is a dry hopped beer with a lowered carbonation level, which seems to accent the hop flavor."

      As much as we at Upland Brewing Company care about the beer we brew, we're not completely single-minded. Preservation Pilsner represents our efforts to do our part to protect the land that we call home. Preservation Pilsner is brewed in the traditional Bohemian style, originally created in the town of Pilsen in 1842, and offers a crisp, light taste without sacrificing its signature all-malt, mellow flavor. We age our Pilsner for an entire month to ensure each glass is up to the standards of a classically brewed pilsner. To do our part in maintaining our environment, 10% of the profits from sales of our Preservation Pilsner go towards environmentally focused organizations in your area.

    • Nut Hugger Brown Ale
      Sometimes it’s good to be a bit nutty. Take, for instance, our Nut Hugger Brown Ale, a unique twist on a traditional recipe. The familiar, pleasant bitterness you would expect from a brown ale is present, tempered by a full, chewy caramel malt. However, things get interesting once you taste the hints of roasted biscuit and the chocolaty aroma, and to top it off, a touch of sweetness in the finish. Orignially, brown ale hails from England, where it first emerged in the 1600’s. The inclusion of American hops, however, lends Nut Hugger Brown Ale a satisfying bite.

      Named for the effect it will have on you and for Lupilin which is the gland in the middle of the hop flower. It is yellow to deep yellow in color and provides essential oils and hard & soft resins. When these oils and resins are boiled in the beer they give you bitterness, hop flavor and aroma. The story of the origin of the IPA style (though challenged recently) is that in the late 18th century beer brewed in England destined for troops in India had to be strong in alcohol and highly hopped so that it would not spoil during the long, hot journey around the horn of Africa (hops are a natural anti-bacterial agent). During the early-to-mid 19th century the style caught on with the civilian population in England - no doubt spurred on by troops returning home - and has been popular ever since...for good reason!
